I love Howard. His harp and keyboard playing does not disappoint me. He also plays some really cool stuff on that Steve Smith disk 'The Stranger's Hand' with Oteil Burbridge, and Jerry Goodman.

I awoke to Prairie Home Companion 7/29/13 hearing something wonderful. Didn't get the name of the player till they repeated the show this morning. Howard Levy - amazing. So I spending the day listening to him.

Carlos del Junco plays as well as Howard. Both are great. David Herzhaft is getting some good things so.

Levy has to be somewhat of a "genius" because he plays a diatonic harmonica, so how in the world does he get all the "chromatics" when blowing?.....he "overblows" and if you think thats easy to do, then give it a try!.. and, if there's anyone like him, I'd sure love to know who it is!...

I saw Bela Fleck and the Flecktones for the first time at Strawberry Music Festival in 1989, all four were beyond fabulous but Howard is the one who made my head explode. It was a sad day in dogville when he left the band but he's his own headliner for sure, maybe the best harmonica player ever, he's not bad on keyboards either...

@BobConolty He's got some tutorial videos on RUclips that explain what goes through his mind and such and how he plays what he plays, etc. It's kind of amazing to watch them because you realize how much of a genius he is.

@BOOLsheet I have been a guitarist since I was 13, I am now 40, I think I've picked up a few things. I did say I am not good, and I'm sure I will never be great. I was expressing my opinion, and not of you, as you have just done to me. I have listened, played, and enjoyed a lot of Steve Vai's music, it's just my opinion that some guitar players such as Jimi have more soul. I am entitled to my opinion. Anyway, no need for a personal attack, have a good one!

@GreenockBorn if you think steve vai has no soul you probably dont know much about guitar or vai and havent actually made an effort to LISTEN to him play

I am a guitar player, not a good one, but I can tell the difference between fast melodies, or someone who put's heart and soul into it. It's all about the heart and soul for me, Jimi Hendrix had it, Steve Vai doesn't, it's not just technical ability, and this guy is expressing way more than anyone else on the harp, I am dumbstruck!

Just picked up tix for this "original lineup" tour. Looks like it should be fun and certainly up to the Flecktones' very high standards. I'll miss Coffin though.
